Ubisoft’s upcoming MMOTPS, , will have a thorough beta test ahead of its release in March for home consoles and PC. I don’t know how much Ubisoft will be able to get fixed in time for the March release, but there will be a private beta set to take place in February for the Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
The announcement was made over on the official Ubisoft website, where it was noted that, starting February 7th, gamers will be able to test out a month ahead of its release in March. The beta will be private, though, so not everyone will be able to get in, but you will be able to register for an opportunity to partake in the test if you pre-ordered the game from select retailers.
The beta will only take place between February 7th, 2019 and February 10th, 2019. So, you’ll have the entire second half of the week, which includes the weekend, to get in on the beta. But that’s only if you pre-order the game at participating retailers, where you will have received the retrievable beta code on the receipt. Use the code over on the corresponding redemption website, where you will need to input the code for a chance to play the beta.
The registration for the beta is also open to those who pre-ordered the digital version of . You won’t need a code to access the beta, though. Those who pre-ordered digitally will automatically receive a notice when the private beta goes live on their respective platform. PC gamers will have to go through a slightly different method, ensuring that if you pre-ordered through the Ubisoft store you’ll need to activate your private beta key first.
I don’t know how well privatizing the beta will work out when a game like seems like it would need a really good, hearty stress test to ensure that the servers are ripe and proper during the March release. We’ve seen time and time again how games like or the latest expansion for will keel the hardware over and bring a server to its knees. Hopefully, Ubisoft has a plan in place to ensure that doesn’t happen.
It seems crazy that is already gearing up for release, though. It feels like the first game just came out, but in reality that was actually three whole years ago. So, the team has been working on the sequel all between that time.
There aren’t a whole lot of impressions available for right now, but some of the major complaints from the first game are supposedly getting addressed, including how players complained about the enemies being too bullet-spongy. This was actually a problem that suffered from as well. The big difference, however, is that in Massive has balanced it out so that firefights feel more organic and less like you’re chipping away at some boss’ health like in the games.
